Events

In conjunction with the Royal Yacht Club, berthing at Al Hamra marina is more than simply boat parking, with a host of regular boating events happening at the marina. Here is a selection of our happenings:

Local events

Beach BBQs – come by boat to sample BBQ cooking in its truest form. These events are often used as a platform for new boats and watersports equipment to be demonstrated by local businesses.

Poker Runs – Find five checkpoints placed around the RAK coastline to get your laying card hand to win great prizes at the evening party. Open to all vessels, from kayaks to sailing yachts and motor cruisers.

Festival of lights – Celebrating the advent of the new year, a competition to see who can decorate their boat in the most attractive way after night falls. A parade around Al Hamra lagoon and Marjan Bay will be followed by a festive party.

Cruise in company – Cruises in company to various marinas around the Emirates and GCC, including free berthing and an evening celebration.

Fishing Competitions – Try your luck at catching the biggest in five categories

Local bands and guitarists – Thursday and Friday night live music from renowned regulars on the Dubai circuit

Christmas, Valentines, Nowruz, St Patrick’s, St. George’s Day, etc – Clubhouse events for national days of celebration

Guitar Hero & Karaoke – Your chance to be a rock star for the evening

International Events

Al Hamra Invitational – An inter-club regatta over 5-days encouraging all sailing clubs in the Middle East to compete for the ultimate “Captain’s Trophy”.

Al Hamra Open Regatta – Laser and optimist regatta supported by the Sailing and Rowing Federation.

Race to Qatar – The inaugural cross-gulf sailing race from Al Hamra to Doha.

Model Sailing Yacht Racing – Various remote control classes

In addition to running competitions, the unique positioning and environment make Al Hamra an ideal location for watersport events of all kinds

Tour of Arabia – a stopover for Oman Sail’s one-design sailing tour of the GCC

Powerboat racing – welcome the raw of the fastest boats to hit the water
